The Mantra That Saved My Sanity
A love letter to TM.org and the quiet power of showing up
I learned Transcendental Meditation through TM.org years ago, and I can honestly say it changed the trajectory of my inner world. Twice a day, for twenty minutes, I sit. I close my eyes. I repeat a sound (my mantra) that doesn’t mean anything to anyone else—but means clarity, calm, and reconnection to me.
TM doesn’t erase my problems. But it shifts my perspective. It gives me space before I react, and peace even when nothing external changes.
I talk more about this in Mama Drama: A Journey with Bipolar and Dementia, Finding Light Through Loss and Grief, where meditation was one of the tools that helped me keep going when everything around me felt like it was falling apart.
